For the fourth time in the conference’s history, a player has won multiple MPSF Player of the Year honors during his college career.
The MPSF announced Thursday that BYU All-American outside attacker Taylor Sander was selected as the conference’s player of the year for the second consecutive season.
A nationwide voting committee selected UCLA outside attacker Gonzalo Quiroga, Penn State outside attacker Aaron Russell, BYU outside attacker Taylor Sander and Loyola outside attacker Joseph Smalzer as finalists for the 2014 Off the Block/Springbak, Inc. National Server of the Year.
The Off the Block/Springbak, Inc. National Server of the Year recognizes the top individual serving performance from a NCAA Division I-II men’s volleyball player during the regular season. (more…)

The postseason has arrived in full force and there is still isn’t a lot of separation between the teams making the NCAA Tournament and the teams on the bubble.
Off the Block each week during the rest of the regular season and throughout each round of the postseason will unveil its latest projections to the NCAA Tournament.
Craziness might not even be a strong enough word to describe the weekend in college men’s volleyball.

It took the final matches of a four-month regular season to determine all the seeds, but the postseason is now beginning in full force across the nation.
The Conference Carolinas will have its championship match on Wednesday, while MIVA and MPSF will have their conference tournaments quarterfinals starting Thursday. It’s the final day of the regular season and there is still plenty on the line.
No. 9 UCLA and No. 10 Hawai’i will both play in must-win matches as they try to clinch the final berth in the MPSF Tournament. In addition, three teams still have a shot at the No. 5 seed for the upcoming MPSF Tournament.
