The three-time defending ConfCarolinas during the upcoming season will face a program coming off of one of its first postseason wins in program history.
Charleston as part of unveiling its 2027 schedule announced it will play a road match against Belmont Abbey in January.
This will be the first meeting between the two programs since 2024 – the year Belmont Abbey won its first of three straight conference titles.
Belmont Abbey finished last season with its second 20-win season in the last three years and advanced to the NCAA Tournament opening round. Among the starters slated to return for the Crusaders include All-ConfCarolinas setter Joseph Morris and All-ConfCarolinas pin-hitter Zach Puentes.
Charleston defeated Sacred Heart in the conference tournament opening round and forced the EIVA champions Penn State to a decisive fifth game in a semifinals loss. Setter Yotam Briger also was in the conference’s top 10 with both a 9.35 assists per game average and a 1.70 digs per game average.
The all-time series between Charleston and Belmont Abbey is tied at 3-3, including the Golden Eagles winning the last meeting in five games.
