A MIVA championship and a run in the NCAA Tournament has netted Mike Iandolo a new contract.
Ball State announced Thursday that the second-year men’s volleyball head coach has signed a contract extension with the university.
“[I am] very appreciative of our fans, alumni and the entire Ball State community. The passion and support they continue to show our program is instrumental to our success,” Iandolo said in a statement. “Our expectation is to compete for championships at the highest level, and we are committed to doing the work necessary to make that a reality. I am excited for what we can accomplish together. This is a special place, and I am honored to continue the journey with Ball State.”
Iandolo after four years as an assistant coach was promoted to interim head coach last summer following the departure of former head coach Donan Cruz. The interim tag was then lifted weeks before the start of the 2026 season.
The Cardinals last season under Iandolo won the MIVA Tournament championship and earned an NCAA Tournament berth for the first time since 2022. Ball State defeated Pepperdine in a fifth-game overtime to win the NCAA Tournament regional championship and advance to the NCAA Tournament semifinals.
Iandolo also was named the AVCA National Coach of the Year.
“I am grateful to Mike Iandolo for the tremendous impact he has made on our men’s volleyball program for the past five years, especially this past year in his first season as head coach,” athletics director Jeff Mitchell said in a statement. “Our future is exceptionally bright with coach Iandolo continuing to guide our program.”
The university did not publicly release the full terms of the contract with the announcement of the extension.
