The annual Off the Block/Springbak, Inc. Preseason All-American Teams will expand for the upcoming season to include a NCAA Division III list.
Off the Block announced Thursday afternoon that along with releasing its NCAA Division I-II Preseason All-American Team the college men’s volleyball website will add a Division III Preseason All-American Team for the 2014 season.
The men’s volleyball NCAA Tournament will have a new format starting in the upcoming season.
The NCAA announced Wednesday a series of postseason reforms including adding a second play-in match and expanding the NCAA Tournament field to six teams.
It took almost 40 years, but expansion as arrived to the men’s volleyball Division I-II NCAA Tournament.
The NCAA sent a memo to coaches and conference commissioners Wednesday morning stating it will add another play-in match and increase the NCAA Tournament to six teams beginning in 2014.

Off the Block and Springbak, Inc. will introduce a new national award for the upcoming season recognizing the best freshmen in college men’s volleyball.
The national-award winning website announced Tuesday morning that at the end of the 2014 regular season it will release the inaugural Off the Block/Springback, Inc. Freshmen All-American Team to honor the top NCAA Division I-II men’s volleyball freshmen players.
After three years, Off the Block will have a new look.
Off the Block unveiled Monday morning its new logo and a rebranding for the college men’s volleyball website before the start of the 2014 season.

It may have only been in a preseason match, but Ohio State middle attacker Shawn Herron made the most of his third start in the last two years.
Herron had a match-high .733 attack percentage and 11 kills as Ohio State swept Dalhousie 25-17, 25-15, 25-19 in its preseason opener Friday in University Park, Pa., at the Penn State Fall Invitational.
The All-American middle attacker who led Long Beach State to its only national championship in program history will now have jersey hanging from the Walter Pyramid rafters.
Long Beach State announced Wednesday that it will retire Brett Winslow’s No. 15 jersey during the upcoming season.
Outside attacker Aaron Russell in limited time on the court during Penn State’s preseason opener showed why he was reigning EIVA Player of the Year.
Russell tied for a team-high with 11 kills as Penn State defeated its in-state, conference rival St. Francis 25-21, 22-25, 25-19, 22-25, 15-13 to open the Penn State Fall Invitational on Thursday in University Park, Pa.
There will be an international flavor to the start of the preseason for Penn State.
The defending-EIVA champions Nittany Lions will open their preseason on Thursday playing host to a five-team tournament featuring college teams from Canada and Mexico.
