Mount Olive to start 2027 season on road at Long Island, Manhattan

·

The longest road trip of the season for Mount Olive will take place in the opening week.

Mount Olive as part of unveiling its 2027 schedule announced it will open the season with a two-match non-conference road trip against Long Island and Manhattan.

This will be Trojans’ first meetings in program history against the two NEC schools.

Mount Olive finished last season in second place in the ConfCarolinas and advanced to the conference tournament finals for the second consecutive year. The Trojans will have to replace multiple all-conference starters from the previous season but return All-ConfCarolinas middle attacker Maksim Kazanov.

Both Long Island and Manhattan ended the 2026 NEC season in a three-way tie for fourth place. The Sharks, though, held the tiebreaker to earn the final spot in the four-team conference tournament.

Long Island won three of its final regular season matches to earn the postseason berth and lost to Saint Francis in the NEC Tournament semifinals.

Manhattan despite missing the postseason in the program inaugural year regular season victories against Harvard and Saint Francis.

Manhattan in the offseason also added former Mount Olive libero Luca Colombo. The transfer junior in two seasons with the Trojans won back-to-back ConfCarolinas Defensive Player of the Year and ended last season third in the nation with a 2.75 digs per game average.

This road trip will be the two of four non-conference matches against NEC teams for the Trojans during the upcoming season.

Mount Olive will have a two-match road series against UMES in February. The two teams were slated to play each other last year but the neutral site match was canceled because of inclement weather.
