Another coach with NCAA Tournament experience is joining the UCLA coaching staff.
UCLA announced recently that it hired Charles Norman as a men’s volleyball assistant coach.
Norman joins UCLA after spending last season as an assistant coach at Ball State. The Cardinals in Norman’s only season on the coaching staff won the MIVA championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament semifinals for the first time since 2022.
This will be Norman’s third team in the last three seasons.
Along with his time at Ball State, Norman served as the inaugural head coach for Barry during the 2025 season. The Division II school finished that season with 10 wins and had the nation’s fourth-best blocks per game average.
UCLA last season was ranked No. 1 in the national polls for the majority of the regular season but was upset in the NCAA Tournament regional finals. The Bruins also return multiple All-American starters, including outside attacker Sean Kelly.
