There was no let up from the United States.
The United States hit .491 in a pool-play match that took less than an hour to complete as it swept the Dominican Republic 25-17, 25-7, 25-8 on Monday in Canada at the U19 NORCECA Continental Championship.
Setters Chase Wallin and Carter Tchaikovsky guided a U.S. offense that committed six errors the entire match โ fewer errors than the Dominican Republic had in the first game. The United States also had a match-best .667 attack percentage and no errors in the third game to complete the sweep and remain undefeated at the U19 World Championship qualifier.
Outside attacker Cameron Kosolcharoen led all players with nine kills and no errors on a .563 attack percentage.
Kosolcharoen was one of four U.S. players with more than five kills. Outside attacker Matthew Kravtsov added nine kills, while Nils Bennebroek and Daniel Hornyak each had nine kills.
The United States after not having an ace in the opening game finished with 12 aces, including seven aces in the final game.
Both Franklin Shiekh and Collin Tullis had a match-high three aces.
The United States limited the Dominican Republic to a negative-.098 attack percentage. In addition, the Dominican Republic did not hit more than zero in any of the three games.
The United States with this victory moves into sole possession of first place in its pool. The team can clinch the pool championship and a bye to the semifinals if it beats Puerto Rico in its pool-play finale on Thursday.
Puerto Rico suffered a four-game loss to Panama on Wednesday to drop into second place in the four-team pool.
