One of the top servers in college men’s volleyball is coming to BYU.

BYU announced Monday that outside attacker Keoni Thiim will join the Cougars for the 2025 season.

Thiim transferred from Hawai’i after finishing last season in the nation’s top 30 with a 0.39 aces per game average. Among Thiim’s top performances included five aces in a non-conference victory against UC Irvine.

The senior also was inserted in the starting lineup because of injuries midway through last season and had double-digit kills in five conference matches.

Thiim in three seasons with Hawai’i compiled 70 aces and had a .299 career attack percentage.

“We are looking forward to the addition of Keoni,” BYU coach Shawn Olmstead said in a statement. “He’s a great fit for our program and has loads of experience at different levels that will help him fit right in with our group. He loves the game and his family’s history with college volleyball goes way back.”

BYU ended the 2024 season in third place in the MPSF and was upset in the conference tournament quarterfinals. The Cougars are slated to return a majority of starters highlighted two all-conference pin-hitters.
