Two more conference wins has catapulted BYU into the top five of the RPI.

BYU jumped two spots to No. 4 in the latest RPI rankings that the NCAA released on Monday.

A team’s RPI ranking is calculated using a mathematical formula that includes its winning percentage, strength of schedule and opponents’ strength of schedule. It also is one of the criteria categories the selection committee uses to determine the NCAA Tournament field.

BYU during the weekend swept a two-match road series against Pepperdine to improve to 4-6 against top-10 RPI teams. Pepperdine following the two losses dropped one spot in the RPI to No. 10.

UCLA coming off of a bye week remains at No. 1 in the RPI rankings and is more than two-hundredths of percentage points ahead of No. 2 Grand Canyon.

Long Beach State and UC Irvine round out the top five, while Hawai’i dropped two spots to No. 6.

An updated RPI rankings will be released each Monday throughout the regular season and conference tournaments. The final RPI rankings before the seven-team NCAA Tournament will be unveiled on Selection Sunday.
