The offensive leader for Mount Olive is coming to Lewis.
Lewis announced via social media that outside attacker Tate Sandvig will transfer to join the Flyers for the upcoming season.
Sandvig led Mount Olive and was in the top 15 of the ConfConfarolinas with a 2.83 kills per game average last season, including having double-digit kills in nine of the final 11 matches. Among those late-season matches featured Sandvig having a season-high 22 kills on a .395 attack percentage against North Greenville.
Sandvig also was in the conference’s top 10 averaging both 0.25 aces per game and 1.68 digs per game.
This will be the third NCAA team Sandvig has joined in the last three years. The Iowa native had a 2.46 kills per game average as a freshman with Maryville in 2022 before transferring to Mount Olive.
Lewis ended last season in fourth place in the MIVA and advanced to the conference tournament semifinals. In addition, the Flyers return two All-MIVA pin-hitters and setter Tyler Morgan, who is spending the offseason competing with the U.S. Men’s Junior National Team.
