Two of the most offensively dynamic players in the SIAC have departed the conference to play for Charleston.
Charleston announced via social media that former Benedict outside attacker Ras Jesse Delancy and former Edward Waters opposite Evens Edouard have transferred and will join the Golden Eagles starting in the 2024 season.
Delancy, the 2023 Division II National Player of the Year and 2023 SIAC Player of the Year, led the nation with a 5.38 kills per game average. The sophomore from the Bahamas also had at least 20 kills in seven matches, including three matches with more than 30 kills.
Edouard was among the conference leaders last season with a 3.62 kills per game average on a career-best .326 attack percentage. In addition, Edouard had a season-high 20 kills as Edward Waters defeated Central State in the SIAC Tournament finals and was named the tournament’s most valuable player.
The Golden Eagles so far this offseason have added three transfers to their roster of the upcoming season. Middle attacker Cole Duncanson, who competed at Queens University in Canada and with the Canadian Men’s Junior National Team, transferred to join the EIVA.
Charleston finished last season winning a program-record 22 matches and was ranked in both the national coaches poll and national media poll during the regular season.
