King selected as host site for 2023 ConfCarolinas Tournament championship

The ConfCarolinas path to the NCAA Tournament is going through King.

The conference announced Monday that King was selected as the host site for the 2023 ConfCarolinas Tournament semifinals and finals.

“King always does a fantastic job facilitating and hosting Conference Carolinas championships,” ConfCarolinas Commissioner Chris Colvin said in a statement. “We are excited to partner with them again to be able to bring our top-notch men’s volleyball student-athletes back to the Student Center Complex.”

This will be the third time King has played host to the final two rounds of the ConfCarolinas Tournament and the second time since the conference started in 2021 predetermining the tournament’s location.

King was the host site in 2021 as the Tornado advanced to the ConfCarolinas Tournament semifinals. The Tornado also earned the right to host the event in 2017 as the conference’s regular season championship and then won the tournament on their home court to reach the NCAA Tournament.

King returns multiple starters after it finished the 2022 season in second place in the ConfCarolians and reached the ConfCarolinas Tournament semifinals. The host school has not won the ConfCarolinas Tournament since the conference changed formats to have a predetermined championship site.

The ConfCarolinas Tournament quarterfinals will remain at the campus site of the higher seeded teams.

The No. 3 seed will play host to the No. 6 seed, while the No. 4 seed will play host to the No. 5 seed. The top-two seeds will receive byes to the ConfCarolinas Tournament semifinals that will take place on Friday, April 21.
