Lewis regains unanimous top spot in Division II Coaches Poll

Last week something happened that had not happened in the previous 17 weeks of the Off the Block//Frisco Mo Division II National Coaches Poll – Lewis did not receive all of the first-place votes in this week’s poll. This week, the Lewis regained unanimous control of first place.

Lewis earned all 13 first-place votes on the strength of consecutive road wins at Ohio State and Ball State. The Flyers attacked an efficient .440 rate for weekend, led by Ryan Coenen’s 35 combined kills.

No. 2 UC San Diego lost two first place votes even though they defeated UC Irvine for the first time since 2011. The five-game victory was also the first Big West conference match win ever for the Tritons.

A national voting committee comprised of coaches from the more than 15 Division II teams determines the weekly rankings for the Division II National Coaches Poll.

The Division II National Coaches Poll will be released on the Off the Block website every Tuesday during the regular season.
