There is no longer a unanimous consensus about who is the best college men’s volleyball team in the nation.

Long Beach State remained at No. 1 but No. 2 Hawai’i received two of the 14 first-places in the new Off the Block National Media Poll that was released on Tuesday.

That is the first time the defending NCAA champion 49ers have not earn every first-place vote in a national coaches poll or media poll this season. Hawai’i received these first-place votes after sweeping a two-match road series against UC Irvine during the weekend.

The National Media Poll is the only rankings in NCAA Division I-II men’s volleyball solely determined by media members. The 10 teams receiving the most votes are ranked in the National Media Poll, while other schools earning votes but finishing outside of the top 10 are considered teams receiving votes.

A new national media poll is released every Tuesday during the regular season on Off the Block’s website.
