Off the Block National Offensive Players of the Night
Nicolas Szerszen, Ohio State — Szerszen had a match-high 16 kills on a .522 attack percentage and added an ace in No. 1/1 Ohio State’s sweep No. 11 George Mason.
Lucas Yoder, USC — Yoder finished with a match-high 28 kills on a .404 attack percentage as USC upset No. 3/3 Long Beach State in four games.
Daenan Gyimah, UCLA — Gyimah had a match-high 14 kills and zero attack errors on a .737 attack percentage along with two aces as No. 2/2 UCLA swept No. 7/8 UC Irvine.
Michael Wexter, Pepperdine — Wexter led all players with a career-high 22 kills on a .405 attack percentage as No. 5/7 Pepperdine rallied from a one-game deficit to beat No. 8/6 Loyola in five games.
Nicolas Szerszen, Ohio State — Szerszen had a six aces, the fourth most aces in a single-match in Buckeyes program history, and added 12 kills while hitting .435 as No. 1/1 Ohio State swept No. 10/10 Stanford.

Off the Block National Defensive Players of the Night
Jorge Collazo, Lincoln Memorial — Collazo led all players with nine digs as Lincoln Memorial playing in the program’s inaugural match lost in three games to King.
Larry Tuileta, Hawai’i — Tuileta had a match-high 12 digs as No. 6/5 Hawai’i swept Grand Canyon to open their two-match non-conference series.
Connor Gross, Ball State — Gross finished with a match-high 11 digs to help No. 15 Ball State sweep St. Francis in non-conference play.
Brad Gretsch, Harvard — Gretsch finished with both a team-high 14 digs and five blocks as Harvard almost pulled off a five-game upset against No. 9/9 Lewis.
Michael Simmons, Lewis — Simmons had a match-high 16 digs to help No. 9/9 Lewis upset No. 5/7 Pepperdine in four games.

  1. Ohio St looks solid across the board. Pins are all-American, setter is amongst the best, middles well above average. Defense and passing elite level. Serving game top notch. Well coached and very balanced.

    Notice the number of sets this year they start out 2-0. If you serve first, they side out. Then Szereszen aces or forces you out of system. Boom you are in a hole.

    Will be a great year of some high quality volleyball.
