Long Beach State moves up in strength of schedule rankings

The only positive from No. 5/5 Long Beach State’s weekend loss is the latest strength of schedule rankings.

Long Beach State following its home loss to No. 1/1 UCLA jumped to No. 4 and is now has highest strength of schedule ranking among teams projected in Off the Block’s bracketology to be under NCAA Tournament consideration.


Long Beach State moved up three spots and surpassed both No. 2/1 Ohio State and No. 3/3 BYU in the new strength of schedule rankings that the NCAA released this week.

UC Irvine remains with the best strength of schedule in the nation, while USC moved up to No. 2. In addition, Mount Olive maintained the No. 1 spot in the non-conference strength of schedule rankings.

Strength of schedule is among the various pieces of criteria the selection committee can use to determine the NCAA Tournament field.
