    Four players with experience of making deep postseason runs at the high school and club levels have committed to play for USC.

    USC announced during the weekend that high school seniors Ryan Moss, Tyler Resnick, Matt Douglas and Woody Cook all signed national letters of intent to join the Trojans beginning in the 2016 season.

  • Off the Block to present inaugural Bryan Ivie Award in 2015 season

    A national award named in honor of a two-time National Player of the Year recipient will be introduced to college men’s volleyball starting next season.

    Off the Block announced Friday that it will present in 2015 the inaugural Bryan Ivie Award, which will be awarded to the best opposite in NCAA Division I-II men’s volleyball during the regular season.

  • Bracketology: Top 5 MPSF teams’ non-conference schedules for 2015

    The season is still about two months away but several MPSF teams already have an advantage over other conference opponents in the race for a spot in the NCAA Tournament because of their non-conference schedules.

    Off the Block using the same criteria as the NCAA Tournament selection committee analyzed non-conference schedules of MPSF teams that have released their complete 2015 schedules to determine what teams could have an advantage come Selection Saturday.

  • USC coach elated to have Christenson back for senior season

    When USC’s season ended in April, coach Bill Ferguson admittedly was not completely sure if his All-American setter Micah Christenson would come back for his senior season.

    Ferguson said in a recent interview with Off the Block that before Christenson opted to return to USC, the two had several discussions during the off-season about the chances of the setter foregoing his final college season to play professionally overseas.

  • Grand Canyon gets home match vs. USC to open 2015 season

    For the first time in its program history, Grand Canyon will not have to travel to play a non-conference match versus a projected top-10 nationally ranked team.

    USC announced Thursday that it would open the upcoming season on the road against Grand Canyon in the first meeting between to the two programs in five years.

  • Penn State, USC agree to play non-conference match in 2015 season

    Coach Mark Pavlik is making sure his Penn State team will be tested next season during its annual mid-season West Coast road trip.

    Pavlik said in an interview with Off the Block on Monday that Penn State will play a road non-conference match against USC during the 2015 season.

  • USC, Penn State All-Americans make roster for USA Volleyball Cup

    Two current college men’s volleyball players will join the U.S. Men’s National Team for its upcoming series against Iran.

    USA Volleyball announced earlier this week that USC setter Micah Christenson and Penn State outside attacker Aaron Russell were among the 14 players named to the U.S. roster for the USA Volleyball Cup.
