  • BYU, Ball State schedule two-match series for 2015 season

    For the first time in a decade, Ball State and BYU will play a non-conference match against each other.

    Ball State coach Joel Walton said in an interview with Off the Block on Wednesday that the Cardinals and Cougars have agreed to play a two-match series during the 2015 season in Provo, Utah.

  • Ball State campaigning to name new building after Hall of Fame coach

    Ball State launched a campaign to name a new on-campus athletics facility after one of the most influential people in the history of college men’s volleyball.

    The university as part of the Cardinal Commitment: Developing Champions campaign announced it is attempting to raise $4 million to name a volleyball practice facility in honor of retired Ball State coach Don Shondell.

  • Conference tournament semifinal matches to follow tonight

    The postseason spotlight is shining on the Midwest tonight as the MIVA Tournament continues.

    No. 1 Loyola and IPFW will play each other in the conference tournament semifinals with the Mastodons eyeing to pull off one of its biggest upsets in program history.   • Conference tournament quarterfinal matches to follow tonight

    The MIVA Tournament continues with two nationally ranked teams trying to get home wins to advance to the semifinals.

    Lewis with its NCAA Tournament at-large bid hopes on the line will play host to Grand Canyon in the conference tournament quarterfinals. In addition, Ball State will try to reach the MIVA Tournament semifinals for the third consecutive season as it plays Lindenwood.

  • Bracketology: Who teams should root for in conference tournaments

    The decision of what teams earn the two at-large bids to the NCAA Tournament could be greatly influenced by conference tournament matches not involving those teams or even their conference.

    Of the all the pieces of criteria used by the NCAA Tournament selection committee the one with greatest fluidity is record against teams already qualified for the NCAA Tournament or under consideration for an at-large bid.
