  • St. Francis, Lees-McRae to continue non-conference series in 2015

    One of the most competitive non-conference series between the EIVA and Conference Carolinas will be renewed in the upcoming season.

    Lees-McRae as part of recently unveiling its 2015 schedule announced that it would play a non-conference road match against St. Francis in February.

  • Q&A with Grand Canyon coach Price on off-season adjustments

    Coach Jeremy Price is the first admit last season for Grand Canyon was a disappointment but the Antelopes could be ready for a big bounce-back season.

    Price in a recent interview with Off the Block said that several subtle adjustments within the program and a revamped training session should help Grand Canyon return to the top-half of the conference standings.

  • McKendree to make MIVA debut on road vs. Ohio State

    The newest member of the MIVA will play its inaugural conference match versus one of the most storied programs in college men’s volleyball.

    McKendree announced recently that it will open conference play during the upcoming season on the road with a two-match series against Ohio State on Jan. 3-4.

  • Sacred Heart, emerging NCAA Division II team Emmanuel to play in 2015

    Emmanuel in its inaugural season as a NCAA Division II provisional member will play its first match in program history against an EIVA opponent.

    The newest Conference Carolinas school recently announced that it scheduled a non-conference match against Sacred Heart in the upcoming season.

  • Grand Canyon coach ready for home opener vs. powerhouse USC

    Grand Canyon scheduling its upcoming home opener against the powerhouse USC is more than just a match — it’s a statement for the entire university.

    Coach Jeremy Price said in an interview with Off the Block earlier this week that being able to get the program’s first non-conference home match against a likely nationally ranked team is a sign of growth for the emerging NCAA Division I school.

  • NCAA report: Expenses continue to rise for college athletics

    The cost of college men’s volleyball can be pricey for some schools.

    Athletics departments in the Football Bowl Subdivision had a median loss of $352,000 with their men’s volleyball teams during the 2013-14 fiscal year, according to a new NCAA financial report released Wednesday.

  • Q&A with Penn State coach Pavlik on preparing for upcoming season

    Four months until the start of the upcoming college men’s volleyball season and Penn State coach Mark Pavlik is already getting excited about all the possible line-up combinations he could use in 2015.

    With all but one starter returning for the Nittany Lions, Pavlik said in a recent interview with Off the Block that Penn State’s depth could create several intriguing on-court possibilities next season.

  • U.S. falls to Cuba in Pan Am Cup championship

    The U.S. goal winning a gold medal at the IX Men’s Pan American Cup will come up one match short.

    In a championship match-up between the only two undefeated teams at the international tournament, Cuba swept the United States 25-16, 25-23, 25-23 to win the Pan Am Cup gold medal on Saturday in Mexico.
