What to know: Ball State a week after winning its first non-consolation NCAA Tournament match since 1973 will now attempt to reach the NCAA Tournament finals in program history. Outside attacker Patrick Rogers had back-to-back aces in the fifth-game overtime to cap off the team’s comeback victory against Pepperdine in the regional finals. Rogers leads the MIVA and is in the nation’s top 10 with both a 3.94 kills per game average and a .405 attack percentage. In addition, Ball State setter Lucas Machado has guided the offense to a nation-best .385 attack percentage. UC Irvine outside attacker Andrej Jokanovic is in the top five of the Big West averaging both a 3.37 kills per game and a 0.43 aces per game. Jokanovic also had 14 kills in the regional finals upset victory against UC Irvine, including having seven kills and one error in the final two games. Along with Jokanovic, Trevor Clark had double-digit kills and hit at least .400 in each of UC Irvine’s NCAA Tournament matches last week. The pin-hitter enters the semifinals second in the nation with a .501 attack percentage.

What to know: Hawai’i and Long Beach State for the fourth time in less than a two-month span will face each other, but this time with a spot in the NCAA Tournament finals on the line. Hawai’i swept a two-match road series against Long Beach state in the regular season and was on the verge of beating the Beach again in the Big West Tournament finals. Long Beach, though, fought off five match-point opportunities to win the fourth game in overtime and then hit .500 in the decisive fifth-game to win the Big West title. Freshman opposite Wojciech Gajek in the victory had a season-high 27 kills on a .489 attack percentage. Gajek also has more than 15 kills and hit more than .350 in all three of the Beach’s matches against Hawai’i this season. Hawai’i setter Tread Rosenthal is second in the nation with a 10.75 assists per game average and has guided the offense to the fourth-best attack percentage in the nation at .366. In addition, outside attacker Louis Sakanoko leads Hawai’i with a 3.18 kills per game average and has double-digit kills in all three of the Rainbow Warriors postseason matches.
