Fort Valley State saved its best offensive performance of the season for when a spot in the NCAA Tournament was on the line.
Setter Logan Rogers guided the offense to a season-high .427 attack percentage as Fort Valley State swept Central State 25-19, 25-22, 25-19 in the SIAC Tournament finals on Saturday in Jacksonville, Florida.
Fort Valley State en route to winning its third consecutive SIAC championship and the conference’s automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament committed four attack errors through the first two games. In addition, the Wildcats hit at least .390 in all three games highlighted with a match-best .500 attack percentage in the second game.
All five of Fort Valley State’s starting pin-hitters and middle attackers had at least five kills and a .300 attack percentage against Central State.
Outside attacker Isaiah Fedd, the SIAC Player of the Year, led all players with 13 kills. Fedd also had a kill that gave the Wildcats a 17-16 lead in the third game and jump started a 9-3 run to close out the match.
Fedd as part of the match-ending run contributed an ace and delivered the championship-winning kill.
Along with Feed, middle attacker Muhammad Mbaye had a career-high 10 kills on a .625 attack percentage. Mbaye opened the finals with a game-high four kills in the first game and then contributed five kills in the final game.
Both of the Wildcats middle attackers did not commit an attack error in the championship match.Taviian Martin finished with five kills and a .625 attack percentage.
Pin-hitter Jamari Griffin contributed seven kills, while outside attacker Keaton Long had six kills and hit .500 against Central State.
Central State in the loss hit .235, including being held to a match-low .160 attack percentage in the third game.
Pin-hitter Jaedyn Harris had a team-high 10 kills against Fort Valley State. Middle attacker Simon Falayi also had six kills and zero errors on a match-best .667 attack percentage.
This was the second time in the last three years that Fort Valley State has defeated Central State in the SIAC Tournament finals.
Fort Valley State has won the SIAC championship every year since the SIAC started receiving an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament in 2024. The Wildcats during that three-year span are undefeated in SIAC play and on a nation-best 34-match conference winning streak.
