Fort Valley State beats Queens in milestone win for SIAC

Add another milestone victory to the list for Fort Valley State.

Fort Valley State in its season opener defeated Queens 19-25, 25-20, 25-23, 25-17 on Sunday to become the first SIAC program to beat both a MIVA team and NCAA Division I opponent.

Outside attacker Isaiah Fedd led all players in the road non-conference victory. with 18 kills on a .406 attack percentage.

Fedd after being limited to one kill in the opening-game loss had a game-high seven kills in the second game. The 2026 SIAC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year also had seven kills in the third game, including having three kills as part of 5-1 run to close out the game and erase a 22-20 deficit.

Setter Jeremyah Gaston guided the two-time defending SIAC champions to out-hit Queens .362 to .239.

The Wildcats hit more than .375 in each of the final two games highlighted with a match-best .591 attack percentage in the fourth game to secure the win.

Along with Fedd, three more Wildcats hit at least .400.

Opposite Taviian Martin contributed nine kills and one error on a .400 attack percentage. Middle attack Muhammad Mbaye had seven kills on a team-best .545 attack percentage, while Keaton Long added seven kills and hit .400.

Pin-hitter Logan Rogers also had nine kills and a match-high two aces against Queens.

Queens pin-hitter Chance Shampine in the loss had a team-high nine kills. In addition, middle attacker Nathan Vaupel coming off the bench had five kills and hit .500.

Fort Valley State entered the match 0-4 all-time against the MIVA. The fifth-year program finished last season undefeated in the SIAC en route to winning the conference championship and reaching the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year.
