The stands will be packed for Daemen’s inaugural NCAA Tournament appearance.

Daemen announced Thursday it will have a sold-out home arena for its match against Penn State in the NCAA Tournament opening round on Friday.

This will be the first time in the history of the men’s volleyball NCAA Tournament that a play-in match will be played in front of a capacity crowd.

Daemen as the No. 3 seed in the NEC Tournament upset Long Island and Saint Francis to win the conference title and reach the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history. The Wildcats were one of two Division II this season teams competing in the Division I NEC, which was in its first year of receiving a NCAA Tournament automatic bid.

The Wildcats posted on social media Thursday morning within an hour of tickets going on sale to the public that all the tickets had been purchased.

Ticket sales to the general public for this match at Lumsden Gymnasium were capped at 375 spectators. The 40-year-old arena has a seating capacity of 1,000 with all the stands located on a single side of the court.

This will be the first meeting between the Wildcats and Nittany Lions since Penn State swept Daemen at the start of the 2023 season.

Penn State enters the NCAA Tournament having won eight of its last nine matches, including sweeping all conference tournament matches to win the EIVA championship.

Face value tickets for the play-in match ranged from $5 to $12. No tickets as of Thursday night were available on the secondary ticket sites Gametime, Ticketmaster or Stubhub.
