Setter Andrew Rowan guided the offense to a .408 attack percentage as No. 2/2 UCLA defeated No. 7/8 BYU 22-25, 25-15, 25-21, 25-27, 19-17 on Friday in Los Angeles.
The Bruins committed a combined eight attack errors in the final four games to secure the home win and move into solo possession of first place in the MPSF.
Pin-hitter Zack Rama finished with a team-high 18 kills on a .469 attack percentage and was one of three Bruins with double-digit kills.
Cooper Robinson contributed 14 kills, while freshman Sean Kelly had 13 kills and hit .571. Both Robinson and Kelly had kills to fight off BYU match-point opportunities in the fifth game.
