One of the biggest service runs of the season from Cole Duncanson ended with No. 13 Grand Canyon pulling off its biggest upset of the season.

Duncanson delivered a walk-off ace to cap off a 6-0 match-ending run as Grand Canyon upset No. 2/2 UCLA 25-19, 25-19, 25-21 on Friday in Phoenix, Arizona.

The Antelopes playing in front of a home crowd of 1,589 people trailed 21-19 in the third-game before going on their late-game run. Outside attacker Trent Moser had a kill to jumpstart the comeback and then added two more kills during the run.

Moser finished with a match-high 13 kills on a .423 attack percentage to help Grand Canyon earn its second win against a top-10 ranked team this season.

Along with the third-game performance, Moser had a game-high five kills in the opening game. Moser also had three kills during a 7-0 run midway through the first game to erase a two-point UCLA lead.

Middle attacker Trevell Jordan defensively led all players with four blocks, while Duncanson and Moser each added two blocks.

Grand Canyon in the victory out-hit UCLA .239 to .156 and limited the Bruins to less than a .200 attack percentage in all three games.

UCLA committed season-high 26 attack errors – 18 more errors than Grand Canyon.

Middle attacker Cameron Thorne returning to Grand Canyon after transferring away from the school in the offseason finished with nine kills on a .400 attack percentage. Thorne, though, was the only Bruin to have more than five kills and hit more than .200.

This loss ends UCLA’s 10-match losing streak and ends the team’s four-match of having more than a .350 attack percentage. The Bruins entered this match third in the nation with a .374 attack percentage.
