What to know: No. 3/3 UCLA will have a second chance at trying to slow down the top server in the nation. No. 1/1 Long Beach State and UCLA will conclude their home-and-home series five days after freshman setter Moni Nikolov had a match-high seven aces in the series opener. Nikolov enters the series finale leading the nation with a 1.13 aces per game average and has at least three aces in each of the Beach’s last eight matches. The Bulgarian native also has guided the Long Beach State offense to the second-best attack percentage in the nation at .404. Despite the series-opening loss, UCLA out-hit Long Beach State .304 to .295. Outside attacker Zach Rama led the Bruins with 15 kill – the sixth consecutive match that the junior had double-digit kills. In addition, Rama leads the Bruins and is in the nation’s top 30 with a 3.54 kills per game average. Long Beach State and UCLA have annually played a home-and-home series during the regular season since 2018 when the two teams were no longer in the same conference. If Long Beach State wins tonight, it will complete its first series sweep against UCLA since 2019
