
The first home match of the season for Tusculum ended with outside attacker Deklan Wingo setting a single-match program record.
Wingo led all players with a record 28 kills as Tusculum defeated Quincy 29-27, 15-25, 25-21, 25-21 on Tuesday in Greeneville, Tennessee.
The senior opened the match with seven kills in the first game, including the game-winning kill in overtime. Wingo also had a game-high eight kills in each of the final two games to help secure the non-conference victory.
Along with kill record, Wingo finished with three attack errors and had a match-high .510 attack percentage.
Tusculum utilizing multiple setters throughout the match out-hit Quincy .203 to .163.
Libero Taylor West led Tusculum defensively with 11 digs. In addition, West in the victory surpassed 500 career digs – becoming the first player in program history to reach the milestone.
Quincy pin-hitter Aleksandar Sosa had a team-high 13 kills but was limited to a .079 attack percentage. Sosa was the only Quincy player to have double-digit kills in the team’s first loss of the season.
