Two top-10 nationally ranked teams will continue their non-conference rivalry.

Coach Donan Cruz informed Off the Block that Ball State will play host to BYU during the 2025 season.

This will be the fourth consecutive year that the Cardinals and Cougars have played each other. BYU in the last three years leads the series 4-2, including sweeping both matches on its home court to open the 2024 season.

Ball State finished the season winning its third consecutive MIVA regular season championship but was upset in the conference tournament semifinals. The Cardinals are slated to return multiple All-MIVA starters, including All-American outside attacker Tinaishe Ndavazocheva who was seventh in the nation with a 4.04 kills per game average.

BYU ended the regular season third in the MPSF and was among the projected teams under consideration for the final at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament. All-MPSF opposite Luke Benson also enters a senior season in 2025 after being fourth in the conference with a 3.45 kills per game average on a .344 attack percentage as a junior.

The match date and whether it will be a single non-conference match or a two-match home series has yet to be finalized, Cruz said.

BYU last traveled to Ball State in 2023 and split the two-match series with Ball State.
