The climb for Ohio State continues in the RPI.
The Buckeyes jumped three spots to No. 5 in the latest RPI rankings that the NCAA released on Monday.
A team’s RPI ranking is calculated using a mathematical formula that includes its winning percentage, strength of schedule and opponents’ strength of schedule. It also is one of the criteria categories the selection committee uses to determine the NCAA Tournament field.
Ohio State closed out its regular season last week with home victories against McKendree and Maryville. In addition, the Buckeyes enter the MIVA Tournament having won four of their last five matches.
UCLA remains atop the RPI rankings for the fourth consecutive week. The team swept a two-match series against Grand Canyon during the weekend and is more than four-hundredths percentage points ahead of No. 2 Loyola.
Grand Canyon following the two losses dropped one spot to No. 3, while BYU stayed at No. 4 to round out the top five in the rankings.
An updated RPI rankings will be released each Monday throughout the regular season and conference tournaments. The final RPI rankings will be unveiled on Selection Sunday.
