What to know: Three years of work has all come down to one match and a historic moment for the SIAC. Fort Valley State and Central State will face each in the SIAC Tournament finals with the winner becoming the first SIAC team in the conference’s history to qualify for the NCAA Tournament. Both Fort Valley State and Central Stated started their programs in 2022 as the SIAC became the third multi-sport conference to sponsor NCAA Division I-II men’s volleyball. Fort Valley State is undefeated in SIAC play, including two regular season victories against Central State. Opposite Isaiah Fedd in the most recent meeting led all players with both four aces and 12 kills on a .400 attack percentage. Fedd leads the SIAC with a 3.42 kills per game average, including having a match-high nine kills in a victory against Kentucky State in the SIAC Tournament semifinals on Thursday. The sophomore also has a nation-best 0.70 aces per game average and has multiple aces in five of the last six matches. Central State upset the defending SIAC champions Edward Waters in the semifinals on Thursday to advance to the SIAC Tournament finals for the third consecutive season. Pin-hitter Tyrone Sands led Central State with 19 kills in the upset victory. Sands is second in the conference with a 2.86 kills per game average and has double-digit kills in three of the last five matches.
