Fort Valley State (9-7, 4-0 SIAC) vs. Edward Waters (8-11, 5-0 SIAC)

What to know: First place in the SIAC is on the line as Fort Valley State will play host to Edward Waters. Both the Wildcats and Tigers are the only two remaining undefeated teams in SIAC play with less than a month before the SIAC Tournament, which will determine the conference’s inaugural automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament. This match-up will feature two of the top offensive players in the conference. Fort Valley State outside attacker Isaiah Fedd is second in the conference with a 3.48 kills per game average, including having a season-high 27 kills and hitting .346 against Tusculum last week. Fedd, a Freshman All-American last season, also has more than a .300 attack percentage in each of the last five matches. Edward Water outside attacker Tavion Ford entered this weekend leading the SIAC with a 3.63 kills per game average. Among Ford’s top performances this season included a match-high 19 kills on a .405 attack percentage against Benedict in March. This will be the first meeting between Fort Valley State and Edward Waters since the Tigers defeated the Wildcats in the SIAC Tournament last season. Edward Waters is attempting to repeat as conference champions, but will be ineligible for the NCAA Tournament this season with the school still in the multi-year process of transitioning to NCAA Division II.

What to know: Not much, if anything, has slowed down pin-hitter Parker Van Buren in recent weeks. Van Buren enters No. 11 Loyola’s road match against No. 18 McKendree with double-digit kills and more than a .400 attack percentage in four of the last five matches. Among those offensive performances included a match-high 16 kills on a .538 attack percentage in a sweep against McKendree last week. Van Buren also enters the weekend sixth in the nation with a 4.00 kills per game average and in the conference’s top five with a .338 attack percentage. Loyola is on a seven-match winning streak and a half-match behind first-place No. 12/10 Ball State in the MIVA. McKendree has won six of its last eight matches and is in fourth place in the MIVA. Outside attacker Kevin Schuele leads the Bearcats with a 3.16 kills per game average and is eighth in the nation with a 2.33 digs per game average. In addition, McKendree leads the nation averaging 10.68 digs per game and has four players averaging more than 1.75 digs per game.
