What to know: The oldest college men’s volleyball program in Indiana will face one of the newer men’s volleyball programs from the state to kick off the 2024 season. Ball State will play host to Wabash, a NCAA Division III team, in the nation’s first match of the college men’s volleyball season. Ball State ended last season one match short of winning back-to-back MIVA championships as it lost to Ohio State in the MIVA Tournament. Among the starters returning for the Cardinals includes Preseason All-American outside Tinaishe Ndavazocheva. Ndavazocheva last season was in the nation’s top 25 with a 3.60 kills per game average, including having at least 15 kills in 10 matches. The Cardinals in the offseason also added Freshman All-American outside attacker Patrick Rogers, who transferred to Ball State after St. Francis Brooklyn disbanded its program. Wabash finished last season 9-19 and has increased its win total in each of the program’s first three seasons.
