What to know: UC Irvine is currently alone in first place in the Big West with Hawai’i just one match behind them in the standings. All of UC Irvine’s six losses this year have come to teams currently ranked in the top seven in both national polls, including three matches that went the distance. The Anteaters will rely on their serving this weekend as they currently rank No. 4 nationally with 1.93 aces per game. Outside attacker Hilir Henno ranks No. 1 nationally with 0.986 aces per game. What makes Henno’s 73 aces all the more impressive is that he has done that against just committing 78 service errors. UC Irvine also ranks in the top ten nationally with 12.36 kills per game and a .324 attack percentage. Not to be outdone, Hawai’i leads the nation with 13.47 kills per game and is second nationally with a .373 attack percentage. The Rainbow Warriors offense is led by setter Jakob Thelle who leads the nation with 10.75 assists per game. Hawai’i has won the last 11 matches in this series, and holds a 45-22 edge in the all-time series over UC Irvine.
