What to know: No. 11/10 Ball State and its revamped starting lineup will travel to play No. 13 Loyola in a showdown between two of the preseason favorites to win the MIVA. Opposite Dyer Ball since being inserted into the starting lineup has double-digit kills and at least a .300 attack percentage. Ball also led all players with a season-high 18 kills and hit .500 in a four-game victory against McKendree on Saturday. The Cardinals in that win also made a change at setter starting Jakub Wiercinski in place of David Flores. The Poland native guided the offense to a .333 attack percentage and Ball State did not commit four or fewer errors in each of the final three games. Along with these recent lineup changes, outside attacker Tinaishe Ndavazocheva leads the Cardinals and is in the nation’s top 20 averaging 3.68 kills per game. The first-year starter has double-digit kills in four consecutive matches, including a season-high 27 kills in a five-game loss to Lewis to open MIVA play. Loyola opposite Parker Van Buren is eighth in the country with a 4.15 kills per game average. Van Buren has more than 20 kills in two of the last three matches highlighted with a season-high 28 kills on a .479 attack percentage in loss to No. 4/4 Long Beach State. Loyola is undefeated at home this season and returns to Gentile Arena after avoiding an upset and beating Lindenwood in five games on Saturday. The Ramblers lead the MIVA and are second in the nation with a 2.63 blocks per game average. In addition, middle attacker Nicodemus Meyer is second in the country with a 1.46 blocks per game average and has at least five blocks in three straight matches. Ball State middle attacker Vanis Buckholz is second in the MIVA and fourth in the nation averaging 1.28 blocks per game.
