Morehouse will have multiple chances on its home court to try to knock off Tusculum.

The Maroon Tigers as part of unveiling their 2023 schedule announced they will open the season against Pioneer on Jan. 25 and then will play host again to the Pioneers on Feb. 25.

These non-conference matches will be the first time the independent school and the second-year SIAC program have played each other.

Morehouse in its inaugural season went winless and failed to win a single set. The team also had a negative attack percentage in all but three matches as it finished in last place in the SIAC.

The Maroon Tigers will have a new head coach for the upcoming season. Ashley Johsnon, a former IUPUI middle attacker and current Clark Atlanta women’s volleyball head coach, was hired in the summer to take over the program.

Tusculum finished the 2022 season winning a program-record eight matches, including victories against D’Youville and Fairleigh Dickinson in the IVA Tournament.

Opposite Jacob Whyte also returns after leading the Pioneers with a team-high 3.02 kills per game average last season.

Tusculum is undefeated all-time against the SIAC with victories against Fort Valley State and Edward Waters in 2022.
