ConfCarolinas had lost 18 of 19 games in NCAA men’s volleyball tournament history going into North Greenville’s first round match versus Princeton on Sunday evening in Los Angeles. The Crusaders made history by being the first ConfCarolinas team to win a NCAA men’s volleyball tournament match when they swept the Tigers, 25-21, 25-18, 40-38. That epic third game, the longest in tournament history in the rally scoring era, featured 23 ties, seven lead changes, and 16 game points. The Crusaders clinched the match on the 10th and final match point. Opposite Gregory Torres led North Greenville with 19 kills while middle attacker Michael de la Cruz had 10 kills on a .529 attack percentage.
