Add another accolade for Lincoln Memorial this season.

Off the Block announced Wednesday that a nationwide voting committee selected Lincoln Memorial coach John Cash as the Independent Teams Coach of the Year.

The Independent Teams Coach of the Year recognizes the top head coach during the season from NCAA Division I-II men’s volleyball teams that are competing without a conference affiliation. The 11 independent teams this season were American International, Alderson Broaddus, Daemen, D’Youville, Fairleigh Dickinson, Limestone, Lincoln Memorial, Long Island, Maryville, Queens or Tusculum.

Cash guided the Railsplitters to a program-record 20 wins and their fourth consecutive IVA Tournament championship. Lincoln Memorial after an 8-0 start to the season was ranked in the national coaches poll for first time in program history and closed out the season on a 10-match winning streak.

Head coaches from the independent NCAA Division I-II men’s volleyball teams comprised the voting committee for Independent Teams Player of the Year.

This is the second year that Off the Block has presented Independent Teams Coach of the Year.

Along with the Independent Teams Coach of the Year, Off the Block presents the All-Independent Team, the Independent Teams Player of the Year and the Independent Teams Freshman of the Year. The college men’s volleyball website also presents the Independent Teams Player of the Week throughout the regular season.

Off the Block is a national award winning website that started in 2011 and is the nation’s leader in college men’s volleyball coverage.
