There is a new No. 1 in college men’s volleyball.

Long Beach State jumped two spots to No. 1 in the latest Off the Block National Media Poll that was released on Tuesday.

This movement in the poll comes after the top-four teams all lost during the weekend, including Long Beach State losing to Penn State. Long Beach State replaces Hawai’i atop the national media poll after the defending NCAA champions down multiple starters lost two road matches to Ball State.

The National Media Poll is the only rankings in NCAA Division I-II men’s volleyball solely determined by media members. The 10 teams receiving the most votes are ranked in the National Media Poll, while other schools earning votes but finishing outside of the top 10 are considered teams receiving votes.

A new national media poll is released every Tuesday during the regular season on Off the Block’s website.

[Editor’s note: Media poll ballots are made available to voters on Sunday evening and are due Monday evening. Some voters, given the time constraints, submitted their ballots before the Ball State versus Hawai’i match on Monday night.]
