Not too bad at all for a debut match.
Ball State in its first match with Donan Cruz as its head coach finished with a .506 attack percentage and swept Maryville 25-12, 25-18, 25-13 on Thursday in Muncie, Indiana.
Outside attacker Bryce Behrendt had both a match-high 17 kills on a .625 attack percentage and four aces. Outside attacker Nick Martinski also contributed a career-high 10 kills and hit .474 against the first-year program from St. Louis.
Cruz after coaching Grand View to the 2021 NAIA championship was hired in the offseason to be the fourth head coach in the 58-year history of the Ball State men’s volleyball program.
