IVA Tournament matches

No. 4 seed Tusculum (3-12) vs. No. 5 seed Alderson Broaddus (4-7)

What to know: Tucsculum won both of the matches between these two teams in four games earlier this year, with sophomore outside attacker Hunter Walck leading the way with 18 combined kills. The Pioneers used their strong serve (11-6 aces) and their defense (43-19 digs, 10-4.5 blocks) secure victory in the first match. The statistics were much closer in the second match, but the Pioneers held the advantage in each category.

What to know: As one would expect with a No. 2 seed versus No. 3 seed match, these teams are quite evenly matched. The teams split the season series with each team winning on their home court in five games. The Saints outblocked the Royals, 19 to 11, in the two matches. Queens middle attacker JP Payne was named Independent Teams Player of the Year, while Limestone tied with top-seeded Lincoln Memorial with three players named to the All-Independent team.

What to know: Lincoln Memorial won both matches this year between the in-state rivals, with the match in Greeneville going the distance and the on in Harrogate going the minimum. The teams have only played three matches in the brief series history, with Lincoln Memorial winning their only match last year in a sweep. Independent Teams Freshman of the Year Justin Sharfenaker had 29 kills and 14 digs combined in the two matches for the Railsplitters, In the match in Harrogate, the Railsplitters hit .461 for the match, including a blistering .720 in the first game.
