Hawai’i tops all teams with four All-American selections

The team that was ranked atop the national polls for all but the final of the week of the shortened season will finish with the most All-Americans.

Four Hawai’i players earned the accolades as the AVCA on Tuesday announced the annual All-American Teams.

The Rainbow Warriors with one of six teams to have multiple All-American selections. Both BYU and UC Santa Barbara had three All-Americans, while Lewis, UC Irvine and UC San Diego each had two All-Americans.

The All-American honors come after the men’s volleyball season was canceled with a month remaining in the regular season because of the coronavirus pandemic

Along with the All-American Teams, the AVCA announced Tuesday that UC San Diego outside attacker Kyle McCauley was selected as the National Newcomer of the Year. McCauley, who is a junior college transfer, is the first non-freshman to win this award since 2012.
