
Opposite Zach Yerington is earning a college men’s volleyball honor after leading Daemen to two victories during the weekend.
Off the Block announced Monday that Yerington was selected as the Off the Block/Frisco Mo Independent Teams Player of the Week.
Yerington finished with both a match-high 14 kills on a .333 attack percentage and eight digs in a sweep against Urbana on Friday. He also had 14 kills while hitting .400 and a match-high nine digs in a sweep versus St. Francis Brooklyn on Saturday.
This is the second time this season that Yerington has won the Independent Teams Player of the Week.
The Independent Teams Player of the Week recognizes the best player during the week from NCAA Division I-II men’s volleyball teams that are competing without a conference affiliation.
The seven independent teams this season are Alderson Broaddus, Daemen, Lincoln Memorial, Queens, St. Francis-Brooklyn, Tusculum and Urbana.
Off the Block determines the Independent Teams Player of the Week based on a variety of factors, including a player’s individual performance and how a player’s team fared during the week.
The winner of the Independent Teams Player of the Week is unveiled every Monday during the regular season on the Off the Block website, offtheblockblog.com.
