Lewis no longer unanimous No. 1 in Division II coaches poll

Something has happened that has not happened in the last 17 weeks of the Off the Block Division II National Coaches Poll – Lewis did not receive all of the first-place votes in this week’s poll.

Despite having less kills, assists, aces, and blocks than No. 1 Lewis, No. 3 McKendree was able to pull off the five-game upset in Romeoville on Friday night. The win marks the highest ranked opponent that the Bearcats have defeated in program history.

No. 2 UC San Diego picked up two first-place votes after improving to 10-3 on the season. The Tritons went 3-0 last week, including a win at No. 4 Concordia-Irvine.

A national voting committee comprised of coaches from the more than 15 Division II teams determines the weekly rankings for the Division II National Coaches Poll.

The Division II National Coaches Poll will be released on the Off the Block website every Tuesday during the regular season.
