Audio: St. Francis coach reacts to beating No. 14 Ohio State

Nine years later the Red Flash have once again knocked off the Buckeyes

Outside attacker Michael Fisher led all players with a season-high 27 kills as St. Francis upset No. 14 Ohio State 25-18, 25-21, 16-26, 25-27, 15-12 on Friday in Columbus, Ohio.

This is the second time the Red Flash have defeated the Buckeyes in their all-time series history and the first time they have achieved the feat since 2010. It also is St. Francis’ first victory this season against a nationally ranked team.

St. Francis ended the match with nine aces — four more aces than the Buckeyes.

Outside attacker Cole Thompson had a match-high four aces, including having an ace in the decisive fifth game. Fisher contributed three aces in the non-conference victory.

Ohio State played without All-MIVA setter Sanil Thomas and Preseason All-American opposite Jake Hanes.

Libero Parker Mikesch inserted into the starting setter role finished with 39 assists and help the Buckeyes out-hit the Red Flash .241 to .215 in the loss.
