Grand Canyon outside attacker Janke named Off the Block National Freshman of Week

Off the Block announced Monday that Christian Janke was selected as the Off the Block National Freshman of the Week.

Janke led the Lopes attack with 56 kills on .318 in back-to-back-to-back five-setters at the Grow the Game Challenge over the weekend.

Janke recorded a double-double of 21 kills and 10 digs in a loss to Barton on Friday. Janke’s 21 kills was a season-best for him. On Saturday, Janke followed up with another 20 kills performance on .433 hitting against Lindenwood, and finished with 15 kills and eight digs against Lincoln Memorial.

The National Freshman of the Week is presented each week during the regular season to the NCAA Division I-II men’s volleyball freshman who had the most outstanding performance. The winner is selected by the Off the Block staff and is announced every Monday during the regular season on the Off the Block website, offtheblockblog.com.

Along with the National Freshman of the Week, Off the Block will present the Freshmen All-American Team at the end of the regular season.
