A high school all-conference middle attacker will join USC for the 2020 season.

USC coach Jeff Nygaard announced on Thursday that high school senior Max Beck signed a nation letter of intent with the Trojans.

Beck, a 6-foot-8 recruit from Anaheim, California, earned first-team all-conference honors as a junior with his high school team last season. The two-sport athlete also is a member of his high school basketball team and plays club volleyball for Pulse.

This is the first week that high school seniors could sign national letters of intent with NCAA men’s volleyball teams.

USC upset two top-five nationally ranked teams in the final month of the 2018 season and advanced to the MPSF Tournament semifinals. Among the starters returning for the Trojans in 2019 includes middle attacker Sam Lewis who spent the offseason being the team captain for the U.S. Men’s Junior National Team.
