Two All-Americans and a libero coming off of a redshirt season will represent the United States at an upcoming international tournament.

USA Volleyball announced Friday that Pepperdine outside attacker David Wieczorek, Lewis outside attacker Ryan Coenen and Stanford libero Kyle Dagostino were selected to the U.S. roster for the Pan American Cup.

These were the only current NCAA men’s volleyball players to make the 14-person roster that was primarily comprised of former All-American college players.

Wieczorek, the 2018 MPSF Player of the Year, led the conference and was fourth in the country averaging 4.00 kills per game. Along with being Off the Block/Springbak, Inc. Fan Choice National Player of the Year, Wieczorek ended last season third in the nation with a 0.57 aces per game average and a finalist for the Off the Block/Springbak, Inc. National Server of the Year.

The Pepperdine senior also earlier this summer made the U.S. training roster for the FIVB Volleyball Nations League.

Coenen in 2018 earned All-American honors for the second consecutive year and had a MIVA-best 3.79 kills per game average. The junior had at least 20 kills in two matches last season, including a season-high 21 kills on a .514 attack percentage in an upset victory against Ohio State.

Dagostino returns to the court after redshirting as a senior with Stanford last season. The libero started his college career as a setter and made the All-MPSF Freshman Team in 2015.

Both Stanford and UCLA led all schools with three current or former players making the U.S. roster.

Pepperdine features two players and coach David Hunt will serve as the U.S. head coach. In addition, BYU, Hawai’i, McKendree, UC Irvine and UC Santa Barbara all have an alumnus on the team.

The United States will open the Pan American Cup with a pool-play match against Peru on Sunday in Mexico.

The top-five teams from this 12-team tournament will qualify for the 2019 Pan American Cup.
