Opposite Joao Victor Santos has earned his first award of the season after helping Coker maintain the best record among independent teams.

Off the Block announced Monday that Santos was selected as the Off the Block Independent Teams Player of the Week.

Santos finished with both a match-high 18 kills on a .353 attack percentage and five blocks as Coker swept Limestone on Friday to improve to a winning record this season. The junior also led all players with 16 kills in a three-game loss to Mount Olive on Tuesday and has double-digit kills in four consecutive matches.

Off the Block determines the Independent Teams Player of the Week based on a variety of factors, including a player’s individual performance and how a player’s team fared during the week.

The winner of the Independent Teams Player of the Week is unveiled every Monday during the regular season on the Off the Block website, offtheblockblog.com.
