All-MPSF opposite Kyle Ensing had both a match-high 10 kills on a .529 attack percentage as No. 1/1 Long Beach State defeated No. 4/4 UC Irvine 25-19, 25-22, 25-19 in the MPSF Tournament semifinals on Thursday at the Pyramid.
Ensing also led all players with eight digs to help the 49ers hold the Anteaters to a .112 attack percentage. The MPSF regular season champions out-blocked UC Irvine 10 to 3, including having a match-high eight blocks from middle attacker Ryan Millar Award finalist Amir Lugo-Rodriguez.
With this postseason victory, Long Beach State will advance to play No. 4/4 Hawai’i in the MPSF Tournament finals on Saturday at the Pyramid.
