What to know: No. 15 UC Irvine in a season derailed by injuries can still be assured a playoff berth if it wins its regular-season finale. The defending-MPSF champions are in eighth place in the MPSF and can clinch the final spot the MPSF Tournament with a victory against No. 5/5 Long Beach State. UC Irvine enters this home match undefeated since All-American outside attacker Tamir Hershko returned to the court. Hershko had a combined 20 kills and more than .400 attack percentage in his first two matches back after missing almost the last two months with an injury. He also had a match-high 14 kills in a sweep against No. 10 CSUN on Thursday to keep UC Irvine in postseason contention. If Long Beach State beats UC Irvine, the Anteaters can still make the postseason if No. 14 Cal Baptist loses to No. 9/9 Hawai’i on Saturday. The 49ers need a victory to have a chance to secure the No. 2 seed or No. 3 seed for the upcoming MPSF Tournament. Long Beach State rebounded form a road loss versus No. 3/2 Stanford last week and swept UC San Diego on Friday. Outside attacker TJ DeFalco leads all freshman in the nation and is among the MPSF leaders with a 4.25 kills per game average. However, DeFalco was held to seven kills in the team’s sweep against UC Irvine in February.
No. 9/9 Hawai’i (15-11, 10-11 MPSF) vs. No. 14 Cal Baptist (14-15, 6-15 MPSF)

What to know: There is only one more chance for No. 14 Cal Baptist to make its first postseason appearance as a NCAA program. Cal Baptist enters must-win regular-season finale against No. 8/8 Hawai’i a day after the Lancers almost rallied from a two-game deficit to beat the Rainbow Warriors. Cal Baptist in the series-opening loss was held to a less than a .100 attack percentage in the decisive fifth game. Hawai’i outside attacker Sinisa Zarkovic also finished the match with a season-high 29 kills, while outside attacker Kupono Fey added 16 kills. Middle attacker Enrique de Diego Garcia despite the loss lead all players with nine blocks and had 14 kills on a .542 attack percentage. The sophomore entered this series among the conference leaders with a .471 attack percentage and 92 blocks. Along with a victory, Cal Baptist needs No. 15 UC Irvine to lose its regular season finale to No. 5/5 Long Beach State to clinch its first postseason berth since joining the MPSF in 2013. Hawai’i has already clinched the No. 7 seed for the upcoming conference tournament.

What to know: For No. 8/8 Ball State to earn the No. 2 seed for the upcoming conference tournament it will have to be in a place where it has not won in 17 years. Ball State travels to No. 12 Loyola in second place in the MIVA and one-match ahead of the third-place Ramblers. Loyola has won every home match against Ball State since 1999. However, the Cardinals do not necessarily need to win this match to clinch the No. 2 seed and home court advantage throughout the MIVA Tournament semifinals. Ball State because of tiebreakers can earn the No. 2 seed if it wins two games, while Loyola needs to win in no more than four games and by a combined point margin of two points to get a top-two seed. Loyola enters its regular-season finale after rallying from a one-game deficit to beat IPFW on Friday. Middle attacker Jeff Jendryk in the victory had 10 kills and was one of four Ramblers to have double-digit kills. This was also the fourth consecutive match that Jendryk finished with double-digit kills. Ball State had a chance to clinch the No. 2 seed on Friday but lost in three games to No. 13 Lewis. The Cardinals began the week second in the nation with a 2.91 blocks per game average and with middle attacker Alex Pia in the nation’s top 10 averaging 1.25 blocks per game. Ball State also its four-game victory against Loyola in February held the Ramblers to a .160 attack percentage.
